San Biagio

The sculpture, which has no legible iconographic attributes other than the bishop's mitre and the cope, is very likely to represent San Biagio, as it was found in the storage of the church with the same name during the last restoration works. The work, which appears in poor conditions of conservation due to gaps in the surface of the stone and which make the face illegible, suggests that it was built to be allocated in a niche outside the church and replaced later from the current sculpture that stands out on the access portal. Despite the critical aspects, the artefact preserves intact the severity and heaviness of the folds of the vestment on which fragments of original colours are still evident. These elements lead to date the statue in the first half of the seventeenth century, a period in which the church of San Biagio was affected by major modernization works.
