Winged cherub

The sculpture represents a putto, lying on its left side, without colours, which probably must have been part of an altar, according to the typical typology of the angels of the baroque style in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The static nature of the figure, the smoothness of the surface, the flaccidity of the shapes and the curling decoration that surrounds the statue of the putto are typical elements of the baroque style of the 18th century. At this time, therefore, we can trace the artefact, which, made of stone, belonged to an altar of the same material or perhaps in stucco. Given the presence and wealth of marble altars of the cathedral, probably the putto came from that of another church of the Chapter not yet identified.
