Chasuble

Made in all probability by an Italian manufacture in the first half of the nineteenth century, the parade is distinguished by the decorative motifs that relate to ecclesiastical symbolism. Among the golden threaded embroidery there are large grapes with well-divided grains coming from small vine leaves, grains of wheat, rosettes and small flower branches. The yellow colour is still used in the liturgy for the most solemn occasions and can be replaced with a white trim. The fabric used to make textile articles is a Gros de Tour made of yellow silk laminated and embroidered in gold. The most important types of embroidery are: full stitch, stretched stitch, basket point, grass stitch and embroidery with cardboard padding. The yarns used are smooth, curly, laminate and tin metallic yarn. On the extremes of the pewter's bench, two coats of arms are embroidered in Gros de Tour and laminated with white silk on top of which are six rhombus made of small coloured beads, while in the area between there are two waves. The coat of arms, belonging to Bishop Cassiodoro Margherita, clearly indicates that the parade was definitely commissioned between 1828 and 1848, the years in which the prelate ruled the Altamuran Church.
